The Red Market

I am currently reading the following book...  "The Red Market: On the Trail of the World's Organ Brokers, Bone Thieves, Blood Farmers, and Child Traffickers"  I am appalled at how the human body has become a commodity.  We usually refer to commodity as raw material, but I guess that is not the case.  The book goes into some detail of what one human will do to other human beings just to gain profit.  You will read about the child whom disappeared from the streets of Chennai (overseas) and come to find out he was adopted by a Christian family in the American Mid-west.  The story is very heartbreaking and  I cannot imagine what the family has gone through with the disappearance of their child.  There are also these blood farmers in India, which they pay humans to donate their blood (illegal to do).  The legal way is to donate blood, point blank.  In India (per pint) $25.00 and in the US (per pint) $337.00...  Wow!  We donate blood and the US (medical field) makes a huge profit from us, in general.  Let's think for a minute...  A person needs a blood transfusion and the amount they charge per pint, for the procedure, and etc.  The book is really interesting!!!
