The End

Wow...  Intro to Computer Applications class has come to an end.  I want to tell everyone, it was a great pleasure interacting with you via blog.  I learned many things along the way, which I am grateful.  Wish you all the best.

As for you Ms. Beard, you have a wonderful personality and outstanding instructor.  You kept us on our toes, doing work in class, and had a great sense of humor.  I wish you continued success today, tomorrow, and in the always.

I will definitely miss the fun topics we had in reference to computer applications.

God Bless!

Save the Chimps Sanctuary

There is an non-profit organization called "Save the Chimps" that I am following and hopefully when I am done with school, maybe I will have the opportunity to volunteer my time.  Let me first say my brother-in-law does professional wildlife photography and a lot of his work is National Geographic.  Well, my better half told me last Monday night that my brother-in-law is coming to town  to take some pictures at Save the Chimps Sanctuary (sanctuary is not open to the public).  When he told, I got so excited I asked him if he would think his brother would mind if I went.  My better half called his brother and asked if I would be able to go as his assistance.  He said, "It was fine."  Off course, the trip was scheduled for tomorrow; therefore, I took the day off from work.  Excited and looking forward to this event!!!  My hubby just called me to tell me his brother is coming next Thursday, the 25th of March, not the tomorrow.  I can always go into work tomorrow, but the saddest thing is I can't take off next week because I am training someone in my unit.  What a disappointment for me.

Sunday

Oh my God, can't wait until Sunday!!!  Approximately a month ago my daughter stated she was coming down to Florida with some friends on Spring break.  I told her not a problem, that was fine.  I asked approximately how many were coming...  Approximately six or seven.  Great!

Spring break is here and they arrived last Friday from North Carolina, two car loads.  I do not think I will commit to ever saying yes.  I have a house full of male college students.  They are all awesome and respectful, but they have so much energy.  They are breaking night, music is on, television is on, lights are on, and all the talking and joking going on.  Needless to say, I have not had one night of sleep.  I get home and literally ask my better half for the ear plugs when I go to bed, because both of us have not been able to sleep at all.

Sunday they are all going back and I cannot wait.  The house is up-side down, who knows how much my electric bill is going to be.  I am going insane...

The Divorced Barbie Doll...

I just feel like sharing some humor today...

The Divorced Barbie Doll…  One day a father gets out of work and on his way home he suddenly remembers that it’s his daughter’s birthday.  He pulls over to a Toy Shop and asks the salesperson, “How much for one of those Barbie’s in the display window?”  The salesperson answers, “Which one do you mean, sir?”  We have:  Work Out Barbie for $19.95, Beach Barbie for $19.95, Disco Barbie for $19.95, Ballerina Barbie for $19.95, Astronaut Barbie for $19.95, and Divorced Barbie for $265.95.  The amazed father asks, “It’s what!”  Why is Divorced Barbie $265.95 and the other’s only $19.95?  The annoyed salesperson rolls her eyes, sighs, and answers…  “Sir, Divorce Barbie comes with – Ken’s Car, Ken’s House, Ken’s Boat, Ken’s Furniture, Ken’s Computer, one of Ken’s Friends, and a key chain made with Ken’s Balls.”

Poverty Through the Eyes of a Child

I remember as little girl my parents would to Tijuana, Mexico and they would always take me with them a good 90 percent of the time.  During my toddlers years I could not really remember facing the culture; however, approximately when I was 5 years old…  Bam, it hit me.  I started noticing the culture and poverty stricken area that I was not accustom to.

Let me explain a little of Tijuana, Mexico.  There is Tijuana River which is a great part of Tijuana, and it is also a river of problems. The river rolls back and forth between the United States and Mexico. It runs through the heavily populated areas of Tijuana, then up into southern San Diego, California and out to the ocean.

Off course, at the age of 5 you start realizing a little more things in life and retain a lot more.  I was shy little girl going with my parents down south.  My first realization was when we crossing a border, which at the time I did not know any difference.  Although I did realize that on one the side before crossing the border was really nice; however, once you crossed the border it was not all that clean and beautiful such as the other side.  Everyone spoke Spanish, but that was not the problem.  The destituteness that was in the area shocked me the most.  I would see mothers carrying a young one on the back, as well as one in the front along with her other children, ranging from toddler to approximately 9 years old begging in the streets and their clothes was filthy; the hygiene was not at its best either.  As a result of me seeing this, I thought to be sure the food was not safe to eat.  Off course, I would not eat when visiting Tijuana.  Although we would go to a restaurant and the appearance was fine, the atmosphere was a little different.  I would see servers in folklore type dresses with beautiful bright colors and the Mariachi musicians.

Needless to say, the older I got the better I understood their culture and differences between the poverty and mid-class.  I began to be a little more open on these visits and little by little started eating the various types of food platters they offered.  However, the view of poverty in Tijuana has been a life everlasting impression.

Racial, Ethnic, & Religious Profiling

Wow...  The Justice Department is preparing to unveil new guidelines that ban racial, ethnic, and religious profiling in federal investigations.  Maybe it is me, or I do not understand the article.  I was under the impression that “racial, ethnic, and religious profiling” was not allowed in law enforcement agencies; however, we all know to a certain extent it has been going on for many years…  Supposedly “profiling” was banned for some time now.

So, something that has been banned for quite some time; now all of a sudden, they are going to unveil new guidelines that ban racial, ethnic, and religious profiling from our law enforcement agencies.  I guess now they are going make new guidelines for something that has been banned or supposedly not happening.

In summary, there is racial, ethnic, and religious profiling happening on a daily basis by people in society and/or in our law enforcement agencies.  Regardless of the new guidelines, I believe that our law enforcement agencies will continue profiling.

19 Years old & wasted his life…

Hi everyone, the weekend has come and left.  Tomorrow is the start of a new work week and school.

Wow, I was just reading the news and cannot believe the bad choices individuals make.  Has anyone seen and/or read the article regarding the “N.J. man arrested in Orlando in deadly Christmas strip-club shooting.”  This 19 year old allegedly killed three people and injured two just because the bouncer refused to let him in the premises; plus the bouncer noticed he was armed and told him he could not enter with a weapon.

This gentleman has just thrown his life of freedom away…  Poof, gone, locked-up for life, or even the possibility of the death penalty.  He is going to pay a hefty price for poor judgment on his behalf.  Yes, I understand there could have been a possibility of him being under the influence of drugs or alcohol that impaired his judgment.

Really!!!  Let’s throw a tantrum because the bouncer did not let him enter the premises.  Then he has the audacity to come and hide in his mother house here in the Sunshine State.  At the end of all this, he will pay a hefty price because of his lack of judgment.
